APXION || DESIGN HAUS

APXION Design Haus is the sole creative propriety of Justin B. Stubbs. I am a freelance print and web designer based in the southeast. I primarily do layouts for both vinyl and compact disc, the occasional cassette tape, and a DVD here and there. I have been doing web design since 2003 and print shortly thereafter. I am self taught when it comes to schooling, but I do tend to glean knowledge from peer-designers, including my wife, Nikki, who herself is a full time designer/instructor. I play guitar and sing in the Death Metal bands Father Befouled and Encoffination, as well as occupy various spots in the following bands: Festered, Bastard Cross, and Vomitchapel. I am primarily a music and vinyl nerd, I am quite fond of death and black metal, as well as old hardcore, crust, punk, et al...
My design influences are vast, I can usually find some sort of inspiration anywhere. I particularly adore VHS and One-Sheet art from 60-80s horror/gore/sleaze films (as well as the films themselves, I am a massive horror nerd). Lately I have been quite enamored with re-creating the cut/paste/xerox aesthetic of demo-lore. A few new projects will have this theme vomited all over them. I tend to pay close attention to typography, a trait my wife has brow-beat into my psyche; an otherwise perfect layout/concept/design can completely fail with the wrong font choice. I also really, really like 16th century typesetting, a look I have tried re-creating on a few different projects. I generally do not stick with certain styles or themes too long, I like to think I am open creatively and can effectively craft what you want.
Decay, grunge, fade, distress... all things to an end are made. I like making pretty things ugly and ugly things pretty.

I can do anything from print/web design layouts, logo/branding, MySpace Layouts (I will do these ONLY if it is worth it. Working around MySpace's coding is a HUGE pain in the ass), drawing band logos, business cards, digitally coloring artwork, photo manipulation/corrections, etc...
